Well, the ‘date’ wasn’t a total bust. Maybe.
The MVA went better than I expected
the only difficult thing about the visit to the MVA (aside from the parking) was looking for a pen (since Amelia loves to go through my purse every night and takes things out that I don’t notice until I need it). I was in and out in about 15 minutes.
After the MVA I came home and started some cleaning to kill time. I thought about going to the SSA but decided not to in-case I got stuck.
Around 1:40pm I left for the post office
on the way to the post office I called Greg to see how his doctors appointment went. That is a whole other post in itself. Needless to say he wasn’t satisfied with the physician and felt he was judged based on his size and not what brought him there (general physical).
Anyway, Greg was on his way and running late (he was coming from downtown Annapolis) so I had to wait and we know what I do when I am bored – take more pictures…
the appointment was for 2:00 and Greg didn’t make it until 2:12 but it was ok.
So, we’re called into this itty bitty room to fill out the passport paper work, which we printed out online to have ready and save us time only to find out that the website (the official, government, website) still had outdated forms and we had to fill out the newest forms (updated on Feb 01). Goodie. While Greg was filling out his form I decided, before I waste my time filling out a whole new form, if the copy of my birth certificate would be acceptable and I was told no! Which I pretty much expected. Also, the pictures that I worked on last night for the passport photos were not accepted either because there was too much gray in the background so we had to pay the additional $15 for each of us! Yeesh! Anyway, Greg submits the stuff to get his passport done and I get to go back later.
Once we were done at the post office we head over to Friendly’s for lunch
and have our ‘usual’ chicken sandwiches and the munchie appetizer
We chatted much about nothing, and if anything, mostly the pending weather Maryland is forecast to receive (and, as always, I’ll believe it when I see it).
After lunch we went to the bank (how awesome is it that the post office, restaurant, and our bank were literally next to each other) to change my name, get new checks (which I got for free rather than paying the ridiculous $19), and added Greg to the savings account and set up the account so he can view everything online as well.
After we were done at the bank, Greg headed to the grocery store and I headed to the SSA…
I made it within 15 minutes of closing and there was only one other person waiting (two were being assisted). Of course, that didn’t stop some girl from walking in and going straight the counter for assistance, without getting a number, to which she was refused service! So, she stormed out and then my number was called. I did my name change, for the record, and attempted to correct my date of birth (because when I changed my name after I married Adam and went to the SSA to get a new social security card, who ever entered my information put in the wrong DOB) but the lady wouldn’t accept the copy of my birth certificate either and I argued (as pleasantly as possible) that my taxes were messed up because my SS # didn’t match the DOB listed and when I showed proof of what my DOB is and she confirmed the last entry on the account (2004) but wouldn’t change and literally told me, word for word, “the government doesn’t incorrectly key in information”. Um, yeah ya do – LOOK AT MY DRIVERS LICENSE AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
Ugh!! So, I just left – it was after 4pm and I wasn’t going to get anywhere. I headed over to the babysitters to get Amelia and chatted with the babysitter for a bit – told her about the passport stuff (mainly about the photo information) to give her a heads up and just chit chatted. I was home around 5, I think.
Amelia was uber fussy today, and tonight, so we gave her a bath, which she loves, and she went to bed rather easily and earlier than this past week.
So, that was my afternoon in a nutshell.
Greg has been stalking our new found love, a site we call weather porn, for predictions about tomorrows weather. Again, I’ll believe it (the .40 inches of ice and about an inch of snow, or the 4-6 inches of snow and .25 inches of ice) when I see it.
