Checking In

It’s been a while since I last wrote. Although, there are a lot of drafts… I just never finish writing, and then things change…. bla bla bla…

Anyway, 2017 has been prety good so far. Work finally moved to the new office, and it’s awesome. The views are great, the atmosphere is great, and it is pretty awesome in general. There are two downsides (though nothing major); the first is the office temp. You’d think being surrounded by floor to ceiling glass that it’d be hot as balls, but it’s actually damn nippy in there. And this is coming from someone whose never owned a coat and wore shorts/skorts in the winter. Now a days, I’ll sit at my desk with my wool coat on! Who knows what summer is going to be like. The second is the location of the bathroom in relation to where my desk is. It’s a damn city block away! Like literally. While, the benefits of getting extra walking in outweigh the location… but, when you gotta go, that’s a hell of a long walk.

2017 has been good to us, so far. I think all of the sickness has made it’s course. All of us, except Amelia, caught something. The latest for me was Strep Throat, which hurt like hell. Thank goodness the antibiotics worked quickly.

We received our tax overpayment this past week and Greg and I had a shopping spree at IKEA. We got a whole new bedroom set, including a new mattress, new shelves and bookcases, rug, and other little things. Like, we spent $1500 – not including Greg’s employee discount (which is 15%) or the $420 in cash that we got back from the recalled dressers. It was a long weekend of moving heavy stuff up and down three flights of stairs. And, we still have stuff to put together. But, Greg and I are totally loving our new bedroom set. We got the Hemnes line – so everything is coodinates. I’ve never slept in a brand new bed; every bed I’ve slept in since I first moved away from home was a hand-me-down. Nothing wrong with them, and they lasted years.. decades even. But, we were ready for something that was “ours”. It’s truly the little things that can make you happy.

I’ve enrolled Sofia into soccer this season. It’s more of a fundamentals of soccer than an actual soccer league. She’s hella excited, as am I. And, Amelia has expressed interest as well… though, she’s thinking she and Sofia will be on the same team. Had to break it to her that that won’t be possible given their age difference. But, either way they’re both excited.

I’ve booked Greg’s 40th birthday cruise! We’re excited for this big vacation. It’s a long ways away.. like 399 days away! A lot of time to kill between now and then. In the mean time, we’re looking at spending a week in Ocean City, MD this summer. It’s been decades since I’ve spent more than 2 or 3 days in Ocean City, so this’ll be fun. I think the girls will enjoy it. We’re likely going to book with the Francis Scott Key Resort because it pretty much offers everything we want and need on-site. And, offers a shuttle to the beach which would save money, and time, on parking!

Well, that’s enough for a small catch-up for now.

Another Milestone

I can’t believe I am 19 weeks pregnant. I am about to enter the 20th week and before I know it, I’ll be entering the 30th week.

The pace of this pregnancy has really picked-up, or so it seems. It feels like time has started to fly once I reached 12/13 weeks. And, to be honest, I am thankful. I am ready for my new life has a Mom of two.

Just this week I’ve really started to feel the baby moving around and a lot. Like, I can see my belly moving and popping up from the baby. It’s pretty freaky yet cool at the same time. I’m surprised I’m feeling this as early as I am since I didn’t start to feel Amelia moving until much later into the pregnancy.

I’ve started to create a baby registry and my girlfriend, along with my Mom and cousin, are working on the baby shower. I’m excited about the baby shower and November can’t get here soon enough; I have so many ideas!

Greg and I have two names that we really like and are having a difficult time deciding which one we like most. I’ve started to refer to the baby with the name I like to get a feel of it and to get used to saying the name along with Amelia’s name.

Not much of an update, this time around.

Black Friday Shopping

I decided to sleep in for this Black Friday. Well, that and because Greg and I haven’t discussed what we wanted to get Amelia for Christmas.

I just finished our Black Friday shopping and saved a sh!t load of money! And, I did it all while sitting on the couch.

This year we bought Amelia the Leapfrog Tag Reader Ultimate Gift Pack

and we also bought Leapfrogs Learn to Read Super Book Pack for Amelia’s birthday since it was a great sale price and her birthday is weeks after Christmas!

In addition to the great items above, we’re getting Amelia her very first bike! I am so excited about the bike; I can’t wait until Christmas morning!

Weekend Review

Saturday started off slow, but really good. Greg and I got up a little after 8am and were at the Mall by 9am. Perfect. We found an amazing parking spot and the mall was practically empty!! We had a plan and we mostly followed it. Our first (non-scheduled) stop was at Today’s Pet to look at the cute puppies and other creatures. Greg and I are going to get a kitten when we return from the cruise and I can’t wait. Moving on,  I found Sephora and it was decided to split (because I know Greg and Amelia don’t want to hang out in a make-up store) and meet up in about 20 mins. I probably would have had a better time, in reference to gaining more knowledge and skills, had the make-up artist was in at the time I was there. The sales lady did tell me that the make-up artist would be in at 2 and 6pm – I passed;  no way in hell was I going to come back at that time. So, I asked for some guidance and was able to pick up a few things:

Basics

Basics

I bought a Laura Mercier Flawless Face Face Kit, which I am really enjoying (surprisingly); the products are not heavy or greasy. Plus, I am digging the tinted moisturizer.

For the eyes

For the eyes

In addition to the Flawless Face kit, I bought Sephora’s brand eyeshadow. I like how blend-able the product is and the little bits of sparkles.

For free I received:

for the cheeks

for the cheeks

blush

Kissable lips

lips

and something else that I am not able to find on the site. I felt I did pretty good and Greg likes the results with everything applied to the face.

While I was shopping at Sephora, Greg took Mimi to a few stores. One store was the Disney Store and was expecting Mimi to just run around taking things off the shelves and what not. But, no. Amelia, apparently, was perfect! Once she was done looking at a particular item, she would say “all done, time to put it back” and do so. Greg said that she did so well, he had to buy her something and bought her a Goofy doll.

Once Greg and I met up we headed over to Casual Male and I found the tie I want Greg to wear and he found another “Guy Fieri” shirt for the cruise and we had a $20 coupon to use towards our sale (which came in handy).

After  buying Greg’s shirt and tie we decided to leave, but before leaving we had to ride the Carousel, to which Mimi enjoyed. We decided to have lunch at Hoolihan’s (dubbed as “our” restaurant) and was, again, blown away by Mimi’s perfect behaviour! She even ate 2/3rd’s of her corn dog – a full size corndog!! She loved Greg’s dessert – which I can’t remember the name of, but it had yummy chocolate ganache – but, so did I!

Mimi fell asleep as soon as we pulled into the parking lot; sadly, her nap was short lived (about an hour). The rest of the day/night was spent watching tv, decorating our balcony, and cleaning/doing laundry.

Sunday will be posted later.

Weekend Quickie

I am feeling way too lazy to go into detail about this weekends events (including the pictures I have that are still on the camera), so I’ll just give the simple story:

Saturday:

We all slept in; even Amelia! Oh, and I count getting up at 8am as sleeping in. We weren’t due to meet at the mall until 3:30pm, so Greg ran out to do a few errands while I packed up Amelia’s clothes and started some laundry. Eventually Greg returns with a late breakfast from McD’s (love their fruit and walnut salad – so does Amelia) and then we’re on the round around noon. First we stop by Greg’s Mom’s place of employment to pay a short visit and talk about Thanksgiving plans (still don’t know what we’re doing with Greg’s side of the family in regard to dinner) and just chit-chat for about 15-20 min. Around 1pm we make our way down to Waldorf. We were expecting traffic. There was none! And we were at the mall within 45 minutes. I tried calling my Mom to see what she was up to and to let her know we’re early but she never answered the phone. So, I napped in the car (along with Amelia which is the real reason we didn’t go in the mall). Finally, it’s about 3pm so we head inside and change Amelia for her visit with Santa. It turns out Mom was at the mall the entire time! Figures.

Amelia met Santa and didn’t fuss or anything! We were surprised. Her picture, on the other hand… somewhat entertaining. I’ll have to take a picture of it and post later (since I don’t have a scanner). Once Santa was over, the girls  – those being April, Mom, and I –  did a little shopping while the boys – those being Greg and Clayton –  took the kids to a restaurant to get us a table. It was a nice break.

Dinner was uneventful. Greg decided to treat everyone and paid the tab. Greg also get a little tipsy from restaurant quality (or lack of) sangria. I was just as surprised.

Finally, it was picture appointment time! We arrived about 10 min early and the place was PACKED. We knew we weren’t going to be seen at our appointed time (which kinda ticked me off a little). As a matter of fact we weren’t ‘seen’ until nearly an hour and a half AFTER our appointed time! I surprised the girls (Olivia and Amelia) made it that long, given the photos were taken after their normal bedtimes. And, as to be expected, the pictures were a little challenging to take. No major meltdowns though.  It was a little after 9pm by the time we all left.

Greg and I were home a little after 10 and pretty much went straight to bed (well, within an hour).

Sunday:

We woke up around 8:30ish and talked about what to do. Our original plans were to head over to Rehoboth Beach for outlet shopping. On a whem, Greg decides to go out for brunch so we get showered and ready to go. By the time brunch was over, Greg lost his motivation to drive all the way out to Delaware. I offer the suggestion of outlet shopping a little closer to home (such as Hagerstown or Queenstown) and he declines and we decide to continue as planned.

It took us a little over 2 hours to get to Rehoboth Beach! I don’t remember it taking that long the previous times (but, to be fair, I think I slept through the car ride as well). We did our traditional stop at Sonic’s for a few drinks (as we were still full from brunch).

Our first store was for Greg. We went to Causal Male and picked out nearly everything Greg will need, clothing-wise, for the cruise! He bought about 5 pants, 4 t-shirts, and 3 tropical shirts (all of which I picked out). He made out pretty good (in my opinion). While the guy was ringing up our stuff, we were chit chatting and talking about our up coming cruise and he was talking about his past cruises and stuff. Also, Greg and I decided to play a game and try to guess the total each time we visited a store. My guess for Greg’s clothes was $350, the actual total was $345! I was so close!

The second store was for me, Lane Bryant. The entire store was 40% off (except for bras and panties) and they had a huge clearance section. I bought 7 pairs of pants/capris (both for the cruise and work); 7 shits, a dress (for Greg’s company party and the cruise) and Greg picked out 2 pairs of panties. I guessed my total would be at least $250, but expecting it to be higher. I was wrong. The total came to $204! I was shocked!

By the time we finished shopping for clothes, it was about 3:45pm. We called Mom and Amelia to say hi and share our excitement about the amazing deals on the clothes. Once we were done chatting, we head over to another section of the outlets (there are three sections within a mile of each other) and search for shoes and I wanted to look for a purse/bag for the cruise. I noticed there was a Coach Outlet store so we stopped in. I did find a style of bag that I liked and would have bought, if it weren’t for $$$ – even on clearance.  Granted, Greg would have bought it for me if I really wanted it. But, I would rather spend the month on other things. So, we moved onto the Fossil store and I found a similar style bag there (something to also carry during the shore excursions and keep our passports in. And to think, Greg was going to wear a fannie-pack!!!) and while in the Fossil store, Greg bought himself a new watch, a watch for me and 2 more watches for gifts (his Mom and one of his brothers). After Fossil, we went to Sketchers. I found the shoes I wanted (and loved) but they didn’t have my size in the color I wanted!!! I used to wear a size 10 shoe; now I am a size 9!! They had a size 9.5 and it was too big and the 8.5 was too small. It was so weird. So, I settled for a similar shoe. Greg went shoe shopping at the Nike outlet about bought a new pair of sneakers and I found a pair of ‘dock shoes’ (cruise shoes).

Once we were finally done with the shopping we decided to have dinner. We were on the road to home by 7pm and didn’t arrive until a little after 9pm – this time due to slow ass drivers on the backroads.

That was the busy weekend we had. Lots of driving (a whole tank worth); lots of money spent; lots of good times.

What I’m NOT Doing

And that is sleeping.

As soon as I posted the last entry, I took my prescribed pain meds (2) and laid in bed. Too afraid to move because I was in some pain. More than I was expecting/remember. Greg laid in bed next to me, holding my hand and petting my hair as I started to fall into sleepy-land. Greg ended up taking a nap as well. Greg woke up before me, a few hours before me. I slept from 3:30-ish to just before 8pm. I could easily go back to sleep right now. But, I’m not.

Nope. I did some MORE laundry (just the clothes I wore over the weekend and some towels); we cleaned out the refrigerator (and it’s now COMPLETELY empty – no joke) and the cabinets and threw away anything and everything we haven’t touched. Yeah, that was about three bags of food (unopened or expired). Greg switched out the car seats and transferred the water and drinks from my trunk to his (I was going to do the driving to Ocean City, but after today’s events it was decided he should drive… just in case I need to sleep). I played a little Guitar Hero. Basically, I’m pushing off bedtime until absolutely necessary because I want to be able to sleep as deeply as possible.

Greg, for some unknown reason, wants to LEAVE the house around 6am. Our plan is to head up to Sonic’s for breakfast, go through Delawere and Rehobeth Beach before reaching our hotel. Also, we plan on getting to Ocean City as early as possible to get some pictures before the crowds come.

**on a side note about photography, Greg submitted 7 pictures onto a professional site for selling. After the site reviewed the submitted pictures, 4 were approved to sell!! And, when we used their calculators for price suggestion, one photo alone had a price tag of $750!! that the Site suggested! So, Greg has four photos up for sale!! Cross your fingers that we sell something and soon**

Since we’re going to get there uber early we’ve already decided on what places we want to visit for photo ops (and Greg is bringing the tripod). I have a few photo suggestions in my mind as well and the tripod is going to make the pictures so nice!

I talked to my Mom this afternoon, when I got home from the appointment (sometime around 1:30pm) and asked if there was anything she specifically wanted to see or do in Ocean City and her only answer was: Beach and Boardwalk. So, she’s going to be easy to please. I haven’t decided on what I want to see or do. Greg’s main objective is to get sunset/sunrise pictures. So, basically it looks like we’ll be lazy and play in the sand.

I’m debating if I want to bring along the laptop or not. I know we’re only going to be gone a day and a half, so the only real reason I would bring it is for Greg to have a place to upload his pictures and clean out his memory card… he can fill up his 4gig cards really quickly (and he has 2 of them plus the 1gig that came with the camera). I, on the other hand, rarely use up all my gigs, unless I take a lot of videos.

I don’t know how many other Flickr fans there are (that read my blog) but I have a vent about Flickr. Their newest uploader, the 3.05, sucks! I’ve been using it for a few weeks and last night was the last straw for me. The uploader freezes, a lot, and tends to always have some weird issue for me. So, last night I said good bye to Uploader 3.05 and reinstalled the 2.5 version. I was writing and trying to post pictures about the family reunion last night, but I… just gave up on the uploading. The only thing I liked about the 3.05 uploader was that I could mark the pictures I wanted non-public prior to uploading, which I can’t do with 2.5 (it’s either all or nothing).

Ok, so it’s now 12:02am. The dryer just went off so that means my clothes for the beach are done. The gum is starting to hurt again, so I am going to take this as a sign to take more meds and crash for the rest of the night.

Hope everyone has a Happy Tuesday and Wednesday!!

Shop-a-holic

It was so, very, busy today! Thankfully, it meant the work day went by fast.

I did a little online ‘window’ shopping and bought our first item for the cruise:

Luggage Tags

Luggage Tags!!

I couldn’t choose between them so I bought two of each!! There’s a really good “sail” going on at The Knot and I got those for 75% off!!

Also, while browsing through their sale items, I found these:

Save-the-date Magnets

They’re  Snow globe save-the-date magnets! I sent an email to Greg about them and he likes them too, so we’re going to use them to announce our marriage and ‘save-the-date’ for the reception.

Non-wedding related window shopping included Coach shopping. A co-worker recently received a Coach wristlet for her birthday (and as a “I’m sorry” from her boyfriend… err, ex-boyfriend) and she let me check the wristlet out and I like it! So, online I went and became turned off by the price, so the next step, of course, was to check out eBay! I’ve had my eBay account since 1998!! 10 years! (Wow!) I actually remember registering the account – a friend of mine told me about it after she bought like $500 worth of stuff from there and was at the store getting money orders (I was working as a cashier at the time – Summer after graduation). Anyway, so I put in the requierments and I have fallen in love with the Coach Hampton (series) Red Motif:

there’s something quirky about it that draws me to it; I think it’s the flower. Sadly, even on eBay, it’s out of my price range (well, what I’m willing to pay for it). Well, the wristlet isn’t, just that particular item (that I ‘stole’ the picture from) which is at $179.

Anyway, that’s all I did for the window shopping today.

After work, I stopped by the mall to pick up my ring and to get pictures of my wedding band to show ya’ll. Well, I did all that I planned (my engagement ring is so shinny again) and I ended up leaving my camera at the jewelers! I didn’t know I left the camera until they called Greg around 7pm! I really lucked out in the honesty of the store employees. I’m going to get the camera tomorrow after work. Until then, my dear readers, you’ll have to wait one more day to see my wedding band, which I am totally in love with; so in-love that I think it would look great without the engagement ring on my finger (but I’m going to wear both).

Greg is a lingerie guy (as well as a leg guy, and if I must say, I have amazing legs!). So I am planning on buying some new lingerie for our cruise – kind of a surprise for him. Greg ‘introduced’ me to Hips and Curves, it’s a plus size lingerie store (online only). Lately, I’ve been browsing their items and now I’m debating on what to get (I would post pictures of the items, but they’re copyrighted therefore unavailable). I am definitely going to get a garter belt and thigh highs (his favorites) and a corset/bustier for me (accentuate my hour glass figure).

Also, I’ve been thinking about having some Boudoir Photos done, also as a surprise. Actually, I’m kind of excited about the possibility of the photo shoot. I think I’ll have such a fun time!

Or… I could have Greg take the photos (which could lead to other fun things).

Hmm…

Ok, heading off to bed!
